When your first appointment for a crown/ bridge is done, you will go home with a provisional temporary crown. Here are the things to watch for.
- Sensitivity to cold with some gum tissue irritation is expected, brush the area and rinse with warm salt water for few day.
- Avoid sticky and hard food.
- Avoid flossing if possible, however routine brushing must be continued .
- Call and report any intolerable pain to the dentist.
- Call the dentist immediately if the temp crown falls off before the permanent crown appointment.
- Please remember, temporary crowns are not designed to stay in for months, you must not ignore the permanent tooth appointment.
- If the temporary crown get lost or broke a new temporary must be made to prevent shifting of teeth that might lead to the need to fabricate a new crown which could be an extra cost.
